Outclass vs Google Stitch: which AI UI designer to use

Google Stitch is Google's free AI UI design experiment. Here's how it compares with Outclass on design quality, editing, Figma export and cost.

Google Stitch is an AI UI design tool from Google Labs that turns prompts and images into app and web screens. It's free to try and popular for quick explorations. Outclass covers the same first step, then goes further on editing and handoff.

What Google Stitch does well

Stitch is fast and free, and it's backed by Google's Gemini models. For trying out an idea or generating a few screens to look at, it's an easy place to start. It can also produce variations of a screen so you can compare directions.

Where people run into limits

Reviewers point out a few recurring issues with Stitch. Precise changes are hard: most edits go through prompts, so moving one element or fixing one spacing value can take several attempts. Figma output has been described as messy, with many layers and poorly named groups that need cleaning up. And as a Labs experiment, its features and limits can change without notice.

What Outclass does differently

  • Edit precisely without prompting. Click an element and change exactly what you want in the visual editor, or select it and describe the change; the AI then edits only that element.
  • Clean Figma layers. Screens paste into Figma with auto layout and layers named after what they are (a "price-card", not "Group 47"), so a designer can keep working on them.
  • One design system per app. Every screen shares one stylesheet and set of components, and a design brief picks a look that fits the product's category, so apps don't all look the same.
  • Recreate screenshots and recordings as editable screens, fitted to the device size.

Which should you choose?

Use Google Stitch for free, quick explorations when you don't need precise control or clean files.

Use Outclass when the screens need to become a real design: edited exactly, kept consistent across the app and handed to Figma or developers in good shape.
